Zed Zone was the arse end of nowhere.  It housed the downtrodden workers from the protein plant and those unfortunate enough to require a stay at the Reset, Rehabilitation and Decriminalisation Unit just across the road.  It was a dreary place no matter how clement the weather was; all corroded chemical barrels and blocked drains spilling gloop from every punctured orifice and grate. 

Born Again

Rain flailed the secluded cabin, vicious and unrelenting in its mission to soak the unprotected wood.  It had rained for two days straight leaving deep frog infested puddles all around the emerald glade.   Wind rattled at the windows and doors searching, seeking – for some small gap through which it could enter.  Inside a couple struggled to keep warm in front of an old wood burning stove, their faces lined with worry.

Although Dr Lowry was extremely busy he came in to address the patient’s concerns. The man was dying. It was the least he could do.
