‘Look into my eyes,’ he says.
‘See the words I can not say.’
I’m scared though.
I find his neck instead with my face.
He is so solid, so alive.
So real.
My man is warm.
He fills my veins with tiny humming birds.
When we touch.
When we kiss they fly.
They soar and flutter from my mouth to his.
‘Possess me,’ my body begs soundlessly.
‘Hands, mouth, everything.‘
‘You must see me too.‘
‘Look at me. Can you feel how loudly I sing for you?‘
‘I know you hear my tune.‘
I clasp his face and stroke his beard.
There is not enough air to take away the shock,
The thrill of him sinking into me again.
He’s talking our language with every shift of his hips.
I sing back to him, show him my craving.
I am safe suddenly, shielded.
At peace enough to look up.
And there it is.
He holds me tightly.
We share breath, thoughts, sighs.
I know what the unsaid is now.
And he is right.
There are no words for it.
So we just show each other until morning.
A righteous bonfire glowing in the shelter of night.
Because I am his lady.
